Once Upon a Time, Seems So Long Ago

Open your eyes
and take a look
What you knew before
Is no more.

I am not she, or She
or anyone but me.
Though something I may say or do
The way I look
May remind you of someone else –
I am not her
I am not the woman of your dreams
Though you may see me
in a dream.

I realize that old habits
are hard to change
Patterns of thinking are engrained
But keep your mind open
My expectations
are not their expectations
Nor are my needs.
