Let My Soul Surrender

Let my soul surrender
to what I came to do
to what I came to feel
to what I came to see
To the heart of God.

-Rickie Byars Beckwith

Let my soul surrender.

Remembering what it was like for me at work that last year, through all the transition and difficulties. Instead of apologizing for something I didn’t understand, which filled me with shame and confusion. . .I see now what I could have said to the CFO–telling her the truth.

I don’t understand what is going on with you. You are completely ignoring me, as if I don’t exist. This is not working. I need your help here.

That would have been honest and straightforward.

I came to feel isolated and abandoned at work. All around. Except for one friend, no one there to help me. To support me.

Let my soul surrender and greater I shall be–

for what I came to see
for what I came to feel
AND
for what I came to do.

Accepting my life
Let my soul surrender
to the heart of God.
